The Down Low

Welcome to the Obligatory About Page!

Look I go outside!

Hello! I am a geology student at Portland State University, due to graduate in June, 2019! My interests revolve around oceanography, mud, and my dogs. Ultimately, I would like to obtain my PhD in Marine Geology, and go on to work at agencies like IOPD or NOAA. I transferred from Portland Community College in the Fall of 2017 as a first-generation college student and member of the Portland Community College Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation STEM program.

My most recent research has been focused on paleoseismology, where I worked with Dr. Ashley Streig of Portland State University, looking at the properties of shallow faults on Mt. Hood.

Additionally I have done research on micropaleoceanography, where I worked with Dr. Alan Mix of Oregon State University, using diatoms to study Pleistocene flooding events, and Dr. Stephen Pekar of Queens College, looking at differences in foraminiferal species from the Pleistocene to the Holocene.

I have had the privilege of presenting my research at the Geological Society of America and Ocean Sciences conferences. I have sailed on the R/V Oceanus and Endeavor, and plan to make great friends with the ocean throughout my life
